Positive Media Reactions to the New 2024 Subaru Crosstrek
The latest edition of the Subaru Crosstrek is generating new rounds of favorable comments among automotive reviewers. Positive reactions the new 2024 Subaru Crosstrek are coming in from authoritative reviewers at places like Car and Driver and MotorTrend. For the benefit of our Norman and Oklahoma City buyers, here are a few highlights.
From Car and Driver: New commentary on performance
The Car and Driver editor noted that the 2.5-liter flat-four engine now produces 30 additional horsepower, moving up to a total of 182 horsepower, along with 178 pound-feet of torque, an increase of 33 pound-feet when compared with the 2.0-liter engine. More importantly, Car and Driver pointed out that peak torque is now reached more quickly at 3700 RPM, which is 700 RPM lower than before. In addition, the Car and Driver highway fuel efficiency test discovered that the 2.5-liter Crosstrek Limited achieved a remarkable 35-MPG fuel efficiency mark, which is 2 MPG better than the EPA estimate.
What Car and Driver had to say about going off-road
Car and Driver took the new 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Sport for an adventurous run at the Plattekill Mountain ski resort in New York state. After two days of rain, the Crosstrek's 8.7 inches of ground clearance and standard, upgraded all-wheel drive system took on one of the less-traveled ski runs. At 3,500 feet of total elevation, the new Crosstrek climbed the wet, rocky terrain successfully with its all-wheel drive system in the Deep Mud/Snow mud setting. Coming back down with the hill-descent control feature engaged, the Crosstrek crawled downhill at about 4 mph, automatically increasing and decreasing brake pressure while adding some occasional throttle and torque, all with impressive efficiency. Even mud pits presented few problems, something we can appreciate in local communities like Midwest City and Del City. The Subaru Crosstrek software sorted out the traction and wheel spin requirements, taking Car and Driver editors down the mountain safely.
Car and Driver's positive comments on pricing and value
Car and Driver editors were impressed with the starting price of the Subaru Crosstrek Sport at a little over $30,000. That model comes with a wireless phone charger, an all-weather package with heated front seats, a heated windshield and heated exterior mirrors along with a leather-wrapped steering wheel. A special package that adds a power-adjustable driver's seat, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert and a power sunroof was described as "a steal" at $1,920. The editors also appreciated the $32,190 price of the Crosstrek's Limited trim with everything the Sport includes plus leather seating, a safety package and special 18-inch wheels. They liked the fact that you could bundle a power sunroof and a Harman Kardon premium stereo system for an extra $1,795.
MotorTrend's updated commentary on the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek
Like Car and Driver, an editor at MotorTrend was impressed with the Subaru Outback 2.5-liter Sport model. He took the Subaru Crosstrek Sport on the retired ski slopes of the same muddy area in Woodstock NY. He liked the fact that the updated Crosstrek now comes with improved EyeSight safety technology as a standard feature on all trims.
Once again, the Subaru Crosstrek conquered the mud
The MotorTrend editor appreciated the way the Crosstrek Sport let him adjust the vehicle into its Dual X-Mode settings so easily, with one mode for light snow or gravel, and the other for deep snow and mud which is the setting he selected. In the deeper setting, the editor pointed out that the traction control is automatically turned off, allowing more wheel spin to help get the Crosstrek out of deep, muddy terrain.
MotorTrend also reported a positive on-road experience
The Motor Trend editor said it was amazingly easy to drive on the wet, twisty New York mountain roads where he took the new Crosstrek. He said it handled corners with a lot of confidence and there was no sign of wheel slip. MotorTrend also liked the way Subaru's advanced cruise control and lane-keeping assistance worked. With all these accolades on the new Subaru Crosstrek's performance both off-road and on, it's not hard to see why the Subaru Crosstrek has become so popular.
