Subaru announced that the new WRX TR is coming soon. After seeing a teaser, many fans wonder exactly what new features it will have. However, there are a few things Subaru has confirmed:
While the new Subaru WRX variant is on its way, longtime fans will be disappointed that the STI won't be new.
An enthusiast-focused WRX TR is being introduced. This "Tuner Ready" version was last seen in 2006. Thus, drivers all around the Norman area will experience the awesome of the WRX TR firsthand.
So, there will not be a WRX STI variant at the end of the day. Subaru seems to be returning to resurrect the TR "Tuner Ready" moniker for the new version. But while Subaru is being mostly tight-lipped about many things, a few details can be gleaned from the teaser. First, the Bembo brake package with red calipers and new 17-inch wheels is an obvious addition. New side skirts are also included for Midwest City drivers.
Right now, it is unknown if there will be any upgrades to the present 2.4-liter turbocharged engine with 271 horsepower. It can be found in either six-speed manual transmission or CVT. The WRX TR version has a starting price of $31,625, but depending on the features, it can go up to $44,415. As it turns out, only bits and pieces of information are being leaked out about the WRX TR.
The new Subaru WRX TR offers a 2.4-liter turbocharged Subaru Boxer engine that delivers 271 horsepower and features standard symmetrical all-wheel drive to take the roads near Oklahoma City head-on. You can also take full control of the drive with an optional manual transmission.
